Valuable Oriental rugs are prone to wear and tear over the years. Rugs with moderate to serious damage, like holes, wear creases, cuts, lacerations, and moth damage, can be restored if placed in the proper hands.
Rasol Turnsonzadah, our resident Oriental Rug Conservation Specialist, cleans and repairs rugs back to their original beauty. He came to the USA from his country of birth - Afghanistan. It was there at the age of 18 that Rasol became apprenticed to master Oriental rug conservationists at a factory renowned for its rug making. Over the years he rose to become factory manager, supervising 30 people in the restoration of Oriental rugs of all sizes and qualities.
In 1982 Rasol came to New York where he spent 15 years practicing his craft before moving to Pittsburgh. Artifacts is proud to bring this extraordinary artisan to our clients. Whether it is cleaning, preservation, or restoration of your high-quality rugs, Rasol is one of the real treasures of the Artifacts gallery.
